Ok let me start with something good ..... I came to know about the 8 rules of grammar today .... These rules are required when you have to solve sentence correction types of questions in the GMAT ..... let me list them down
1. SUBJECT VERB AGREEMENT
2. PRONOUNS
3. TENSES
4. MODIFIERS
5. PARALLELISM
6. IDIOM
7. COMPARISON
8. KISS FORMULA ----->>>>>>> KEEP IT SHORT AND SIMPLE
Now comes the difficult part .... i.e. learning them I have to learn them as fast as possible and be able to apply them correctly ..... well what has to be done has to be done .... there is no way out of this so lil Gau will have to study.... and be good with it ..... no let me rephrase that .... be the bloody best with it ..... wishful thinking you see .... apart from that the day did not include much studying .... ok I went to Churchgate in the morning .... or rather afternoon .... morning for me anyway.... I got to Borivali station and on the way there I was thinking what would happen if there was no train to churchgate on platform no 1..... now you see I am not that well versed with Train travelling .... so I get lost if the right Train is not there on the right platform .... which for me is platform no 1 ..... which is just there when you enter the station .... and Western Railways came to know about my thought .... I suppose I was thinking too loud .... so they decided to test me ..... I bought the return ticket to churchgate from the ticket counter ... of course where else would you get that ticket .... and entered platform no 1 .... my happy place .... and what do I see there is a train standing right in front of me ..... the only problem with the train is that it is pointing in the wrong direction according to the indicator above me which said ...... VIRAR..... which is at the very other end of western railways..... so what next I thought .... platform no 2 of course but the train there was saying BHAYANDER ..... Antara Land ..... Platform no 3 said Bandra .... which is near the half way mark from Borivali to Charchgate .... I kept staring at the Indicator and finally found what I was looking at ..... CHURCHGATE ..... where .... platform no 6 .... and the train was going to leave in 2 minutes flat ..... I rushed towards the overbridge ran all the way to platform no 6 cursing myself for thinking out loud .... and finally managed to board the train .... and guess what ... this particular train had been waiting from the last 20 minutes and it was packed .... I managed to get some space to stand two spaces next to the door ... the only good thing about this train was that it was Churchgate Fast ... which meant it would stop at a very limited number of stations after Andheri .... so thats how the nightmare began .... people kept on boarding the train at every station it stopped and very few people got down .... you could the ratio of people getting in to that of the people gettin out was something like 50:1 .... it was as if the whole damm world wanted to go to Churchgate ..... the rest of the journey was something like a wrestling match... I was punched in the face, stomach and was stamped on my feet .... I guess that's what happens everyday on the Mumbai Locals, but at 1 o clock in the afternoon it was not something that happens everyday ...... anyway ..... I got to breathe and finally sit when we reached CHARNI ROAD .... which is like two stations away from Churchgate ..... but still something is better than nothing ... I reached Churchgate went to IMS Churchgate .... requested for an Orange Juice ...... sitting in the A/C center and drinking orange juice ... that felt like heaven in comparison to the train journey I had just encountered ..... Then it was work as usual .... Satyen sir gave me some fundas for the verbal section in GMAT and they were really good .... a sample of which I have put up at the beginning of this post ..... After the learning session I had to get back to borivali .... enduring another Train Journey ....... which I hoped would not be as painful as earlier one .... I walked into Churchgate station ..... got a practically empty Borivali Slow local .... I had enough of fast locals fo the day ..... set myself on a window seat .... which was pointing in the right direction ... I.E. pointing in the direction the air would flow .... I felt really happy about the whole thing I even bought a sandwich from the seller who boarded my compartment ... or boogie whatever you choose to call it ... he was selling Samosas too which is like my favorite food stuff ... it is part of my staple diet... but then I refrained from buying it ... my stomach asked me not to ... all those potatoes would end up upseting it.... there I was on my way back to borivali gobbling my sandwich and drinking Gatorade .... it's an energy drink I bought from the station .... when suddenly my mind started wandering again .... I was thinking about Borivali station how there are three platforms all placed in a single line .... let me try and explain it diagrammatically so that you get a better idea
Kandivali .........,_____(8)_____,______(7)______,_____(1)_____
The numbers 8,7 and 1 represent the three platforms at borivali station .... as you can see from my pathetic attempt at drawing that platform no 8 is closer to Kandivali than it is to Borivali .... ok my mind wandered ... I was thinking what would I do if the train stopped at platform no 8 instead of 1 or any of the other platforms which are laid parallel to 1 .... and again Western Railways were really paying attention to me and by the time the train entered Kandivali Station the announcement came clearly on the antique looking speaker system that this train would be stoping at platform no 8 at Borivali ... I really felt like kicking myself for thinking .... I had to walk a long way before I could reach my office ... good ol IMS Borivali .... ok that's about all the excitement for the day ..... got to do some studying now to wrap it with a good note .... and next time before you think .... think on what do you want to think about .... Big Brother ....oops sorry Western Railways would be listening ...... Ciao
